Recover The Fun™ groups are centered on the creative arts and are designed to remind us that fun can be had without the use of substances. The purpose of the group is to provide a relaxed, friendly, and fun environment where we connect to each other and ourselves - because part of the work of recovery is relearning how to have fun. Recover the Fun events are for people in recovery, friends, family, and supporters.
What Is Expressive Arts Recovery Support?
Expressive Arts Recovery Support uses the creative process to reclaim our birthright as a creator and artist, facilitates growth and healing, and helps in our ability to rediscover fun.
Expressive arts recovery support utilizes the creative arts and transforms them into tools for healing. During group coaching, the act of creation is more important than a finished product. The focus is on active participation, imagination, self-expression, connection, and fun. Whether we create our own individual piece or work with a group, we use a few different types of expressive arts, including:
· Art: Crafting, drawing, painting and sculpting to express images that come from inside
· Music: Singing, songwriting and playing musical instruments to release deep-seated feelings
· Dance: Expressing feelings physically through dance movements
· Writing: Journaling, poetry and other forms of creative writing for expression
· Improv: Acting out humorous roles along with other forms of expression
